"For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come…" (Song of Solomon 2:11-12)
In the northland, we are watching spring break forth from the buds on the trees to the greening up of the grass, to the birds singing joyful chirps of praise.
We give thanks for this Easter season which reminds us of the new life we've received in the resurrection of Jesus! He lives!
And, because He lives, we too will live.
Here are some encouraging examples about how God is performing wondrous works to reach people with the hope of the gospel using the "Daily Texts."
We heard from Alexis, a new listener in Kansas. Alexis is 30 years old. She worked in a hospice center caring for a woman who was originally from Sioux Falls, SD. Her name was Diana. She was in hospice care and Alexis was one of her nurses. 2024 had been a difficult year for Alexis spiritually and emotionally. She was going down a regretful path. That is when Diana, her patient, was used by God to inspire Alexis.
During the summer of 2024, Alexis and Diana became very close. She was like a grandmother to Alexis. Diana instilled in her a love for God and Jesus as her Savior. They would sing worship songs and share testimonies that were powerful. Diana witnessed to her the joy of following Jesus. Alexis told us that she was one of most impactful woman she's ever met. Her love of God's word, her compassion for others, and her selfless attitude all were a strong testimony of how to live in Christ.
Just a month or two prior to her death, she said she was going to order a 2025 devotional book that she loved and had used for years. She said, "I'll order two and we can do our devotions together. The book is called 'The Daily Texts.'" In October of 2024, Diana died and the books arrived at her daughter's home. She brought a book to Alexis. Since that time Alexis has been listening to the podcast and reading the "Daily Texts." Here is what she says. "For the next months after Diana's death I felt like I was hanging on by a thread. I either read the 'Daily Texts' or listened to the Forgivin' Livin' podcast. Little did I know that it would be the one thing that helped me keep my faith and stay in tune spiritually and in touch with God. That being said, not only do I thank Miss Diana, but I thank you guys for providing the world with Ground up Grace. I pray it never ceases."
We praise God for this encounter and continue to pray for Alexis that she will continue to grow in faith and find others to be in a faith community with her.
We also heard a report from a listener who is working in a governor's office. She brought "Daily Texts" for her co-workers and they have been reading the verses seeing the impact of these on their daily lives in profound ways. She says, "my boss pulls out his 'Daily Texts' book as we are working together on approaches for our issues we have to address in order to inform our thinking. This morning he said that the verses feel like they were written just for us every day!" Praise the Lord for this testimony!
Most of us have felt this way. God governs us through these verses in very personal and timely ways just like today (April 16). How many of us have felt like Jonah wanting our opponents punished? And God doesn't do what we want. Jesus reveals that God forgives and shows mercy. But God also warns us (and Jonah) about our need to be right. We need to give up our right to punish. This is the only way we can live in love as God is love. As the prayer writer wrote for today, "make me willing." Make me willing Lord to be forgivin' livin' in my purpose every day.
Last year we visited Herrnhut where we learned about the history and the world wide distribution of the "Daily Texts." They are translated in over 60 languages.
You surely know people who could benefit from this book our language.
You could share one or more books with them.
We have many "2026 Daily Texts" left. They are better off in your home than in our garage. They are waiting for you. Pray about where you could be use them.
Then ask and it shall be given to you! We will send them to you for free. Just give them away. Contact us at noniehinderlie@gmail.com.
Consider joining us in bringing the "Daily Texts" forgivin' livin' message to Istanbul, Cappadocia, Izmir, Ephesus, Patmos, Crete, Santorini, Athens and Corinth. In addition to seeing some amazing cities and places, we will be joining a Christian church in Izmir learning how believers there share their faith and minister in a Muslim world. We will learn from them how to minister to Muslims in our world. We have room for a few more of you who want to combine a wonderful tour of Turkey and Greece with some mission opportunities.
