The Spirit uses the word to cleanse us like fire, to divide our thoughts like a sword, and to crack our hardened ways as a hammer. God knows what is needed to bring about the changes in our lives. As God “works the word, the word works.” Let our Lord work the word in you today.
Is not my word like fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
God of truth, thank you for not deserting me in my sin but instead rescuing me by the power of your word. Your word is a living word, trustworthy in steadfast love and a fire in my heart, burning away lies. Give me a humble heart to speak truth to people lost in a world of deception. Amen.
