The first known representation of blind Justice is Hans Gieng's 1543 statue on the Fountain of Justice in Bern, Switzerland. Since that time, Lady Justice has often been depicted wearing a blindfold understood to represent impartiality. Sometimes the blindfold was meant to imply that justice has been blind to the injustices that have gone before. But what about love? How can love be completely impartial; free from prejudice and judgment. Is there anyone who could be outside the scope of God’s love? Is there anyone outside the scope of your love? Today’s podcast will give you the chance to think this over and to lead you to seek help from the One who is love.
You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great.
Leviticus 19:15
Do not claim the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory while showing partiality.
James 2:1
Gracious Lord, thank you for creating all people equal in your sight-from poorest to richest, every race and color, men and women. Have mercy on me for I am often guilty and unaware of showing unjustified partiality. Grant me grace to see others as you see them and a heart to love as you love. Amen.
