The Prophet Ezekiel doubles God’s promise of a new heart in his writing. Our Father loves us too much to let us live without the heart of God’s love. But the cost of this heart is right there at the top of the heart. The cross. Jesus takes our hearts into Himself and they killed him. Even so, our Lord transplants His heart by faith into our bodies. Transplants? We know our bodies fight against any transplant meant to save us. So too our old nature fights the gift of God’s new heart.
I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them.
Ezekiel 11:19
God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7
Thank you, generous Father, for these amazing gifts you have already given me- power, love, and self-discipline. Open my hands and my heart not just to unwrap them, but to claim them boldly for daily use. Teach me to use these offerings to foster one heart among your people. May I bravely bless others with what you've given me. Amen.
