Today, the Irishcast help us grasp our personal dilemma of living under the law. The only solution for overcoming its grip on us is in the death of God’s only Son, Jesus. Jesus becomes our curse. Jesus becomes our sin. And thanks to His resurrection, Jesus becomes our hope. The image on the picture for today describes how the law and the prophets described by Jesus in the two great commandments are finally fulfilled in us as well by the power of the Spirit whose fruit fulfills what the law demands. This promise in Galatians 5 is also found in Paul’s writing in Romans 8:1-4.
Your decrees are my delight; they are my counselors.
Psalm 119:24
Jesus said, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill."
Matthew 5:17
Lord Jesus, I am thankful for your boundaries, your laws and your decrees. I am grateful that both law and promise are fulfilled in you. When I fix my eyes on your commandments, I fail. Then you surprise me with grace and compassion. Help me look beyond my failures to you alone. You are my counselor, guide, Savior and friend. Amen.
