(Mission Cast) Whose Throne (Joshua 22:29; 1 Timothy 4:16)

Today we discuss the importance of “one throne” in your life (cf. context for Joshua 22:29) and “paying close attention to yourself” (cf. 1 Timothy 4:16).  In times of conflict, crisis and trial, how we talk and behave is the message others will hear.  People want a faith and is authentic and real in all circumstances of life.   The western tribes were concerned that the eastern tribes were beginning to drift away from the covenant.  They emphatically denied this was happening.  We know, however, how easy it is to drift away from God’s word if we are not diligent and disciplines, like Paul admonishes Timothy.   We recount how comforting it is that Christians from every nation throughout the world have one faith and one Lord.  We share in common the Lord’s Prayer, The Apostle’s Creed, the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism.  We share the same Scriptures and hope in Jesus Christ.  Please pray for our parents, Mavis(Mim’s mom who is now on hospice care) and Roy (Jeff’s dad who underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot to save his leg).   We are grateful to belong to a larger community of faith. Jeff and Mim.

Far be it from us that we should rebel against the LORD and turn away this day.
Joshua 22:29

New Testament Verse

Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Prayer

I love you, Lord, for you are truth and light. I confess that sometimes my focus turns away from you and onto myself. Please help me pay close attention to your teaching. Then I will live the truth in love. Make me an effective witness through my character, conduct, and conversation. Amen.
