Jeff and Mim discuss heaven and hell, and the coming resurrection from the dead. The reality of both motivates us to proclaim the hope we have in Jesus Christ, the light and life of the world. At the last trumpet sound, the dead in Christ will rise from the dead and be transformed in the twinkling of an eye in the likeness of Christ with resurrected bodies to live and reign with Christ for eternity. Jeff reflects on N.T. Wright’s book, “Surprised by Hope” and C.S. Lewis’, “The Great Divorce,” both of which describe hell as the absence of the presence of God. Mim expresses gratitude to Doug and Doris Haugen for the urgency to share this good news with all people. Jeff shares a personal story of his own experience with hell and what it felt like as sensory deprivation, lost in a sea of blackness and darkness. Thanks be to God for the light and life we have in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel 12:2
For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Romans 14:9
Jesus, Lord of the living and the dead, I neither understand how the dead will rise nor comprehend eternity. But my faith is firm because my hope is anchored in your promise that I will live forever because you died and rose again. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus! Give me wings to fly, proclaiming hope to people everywhere. Amen.
