When we are under attack we seek a way to be protected. Whether it’s masks or shields or something else, we know our survival depends on turning the attack away. So when does vindication by God protect us from attack? When we find ourselves attacked by guilt, shame or resentment, our soul turns inside out seeking a way to find peace. The only peace we receive comes from our God who becomes our guilt, our shame and our resentment. Jesus absorbs the attack and the attacker into himself. And He bears the consequence of the attack. Death. He dies. But in the resurrection, we receive the judgment. It’s this. We are vindicated by the vindicator, Jesus.
The Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
Deuteronomy 32:36
And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them?
Luke 18:7
O God grant me gratitude especially when I feel none. Forgive my limited sight. May your Spirit intercede when my prayers are just sighing. When I can't hold on, help me remember I am being held. Extend your compassion through me and my limitations to impatient others. In your compassionate name I pray. Amen.
