“Didn’t you know that God’s middle name is surprise?” My mother once told this to my friend Tom who is a pastor and a missionary and a regular partner in our Forgivin’ Livin’ podcasts and “Daily Texts” ministry. Today’s texts reveal this surprising encounter with God for Abraham and for Zacchaeus. The disciples knew this from the first day they were called by Jesus until the day they were called home…and that’s when their surprises were out of this world. Don’t miss out on your God who is planning a surprise for you.
My Lord, if I find favor with you, do not pass by your servant.
Genesis 18:3
When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today."
Luke 19:5
Thank you, Lord, for coming to me. You don't wait for my invitation. You knock on my door. You desire to sit down with me. Thank you, Lord, for breaking down any barrier that separates me from you. You keep after me until I am fully yours. Help me today to simply say, welcome, Lord. Amen.
