LENT. This is your daily (Monday-Saturday) journaling opportunity. We know that journaling deepens our “Daily Texts” practice. Perhaps you know someone with whom you can share your responses. Journaling Day 9 March 15 1. What is your given name? What does your name signify about your family heritage and your personality? In many cultures your name is more than personal identification. It represents your lineage, tribal affiliations, family connections, and social status. It also says something about the true nature of your personality and character. 2. What names or labels have you been given through life (good and bad) that you wish you could change? For example: You are … (no good, a loser, a sinner, etc. vs. faithful, true, noble?) 3. How does Jesus change (redeem) your nature into its original intent (made in the Image of God)?
You shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give.
Isaiah 62:2
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; look, new things have come into being!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Loving Christ, you call me today into new, forgiven life with you. You name me Child of God and give me breath. When I look away from you, I wither. Lord, be with all who long for new life in you. Use my willing hands as your new creation to surprise and delight everyone who hears your voice. Amen.
