STEP 9 FROM THE BOOK ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS. “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.” Patrick won favor with the Irish by returning to his former master and paying the full ransom price of a slave as “compensation” for his escape. This generous gesture astounded the Irish. By making amends with someone he had harmed, Patrick had a platform to share his faith in our God who forgives sinners. On every St Patrick’s Day let’s all look for the chance to make amends with someone we have harmed. Jesus tells us to do the same in Matthew 5:23-24.
I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants and my blessing on your offspring.
Isaiah 44:3
Jesus said in a loud voice, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink."
John 7:37 NIV
Living Lord, when I hear your word, it falls upon my heart like a gentle rain on dry soil. Thank you for quenching my thirst for you. Your word grows in me and changes my life. May the joy of your spirit within me overflow as blessings upon my family and other people. Praise to you forever, Lord. Amen.
