(Sundaycast) Under Whose Judgment (Psalm 105:7; Matt 5:10)

SNOWBIRDS! Two kinds. One migrates by instinct and the other migrates by choice. The flying bird is free from needing to justify itself to anyone for flying south. The driving bird always has to explain why he or she is heading south again. The bird is free from judgment. The human is under judgment. Each of us knows how we are under judgment and feel the need to defend our actions. We may not do it in person to someone but we make a defense in our heads for what we are doing. When you are in Christ, Jesus is your defense attorney. You don’t have to create any arguments to justify why you do what you do. You are free. You are free to be any kind of bird brain you want to be! But beware…no one really likes a free person. You will be persecuted for living free in the righteousness of Christ.

Prayer

God of justice, you have shown your goodness and mercy worldwide. I commit to following your path to righteousness. Give me courage to say and do what is right, though it may be counter to the world's culture and provoke rejection. Remind me that the present world is temporary and that life in the kingdom of heaven is forever. Amen.
