(Mission Cast) Running With Jesus (Isaiah 40:30 31; Hebrews 12:1 2) (Discipleship)

Jeff and Chris (Jeff’s son-in-law) discuss what it means to run with perseverance, looking to Jesus.  The Holy Spirit is person of the Trinity that gives us the grace to persevere.  Jesus has run the race for us and completed the demands the LAW.  His righteous is now ours.  We run in complete freedom in the Spirit the race of our lives set before us, full of joy and love.  We discuss the practical, incremental hindsight and disciplines of running with and toward Jesus.   Chris ends the podcast playing a guitar instrumental of the hymn “Great is thy faithfulness” (page 108) in your Daily Texts.   Let us run with joy!

Old Testament Verse

Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted, but those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31

New Testament Verse

Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2

Prayer

Lord who provides, I need you to renew my strength. When the race is long and I rely on my own strength, I fall. With Jesus as my goal, help me persevere, knowing when and how to serve. Guide me to rest in hopeful expectation, trusting that Jesus will make all things right. Amen.
