(Theta) Power To Make Peace (Proverbs 16:32 & Revelation 14:12) (Discipleship)

Powerlessness. What does it take for us to admit that we have no power over our anger? Or perhaps no power over our management of our finances? Or maybe it’s things you can’t get rid of? Did you ever think that admitting that you are powerless is the first step to getting free from the thing that has been plaguing you? We are taught to remain in control. This is a sign that we are winning. Admitting you are powerless over some habit seems like a form of defeat. The truth is that what we are admitting is that we cannot control our life and the solutions we have used to try to maintain control have failed us. Like using alcohol, our losing our temper or hanging onto every little thing. Admitting powerlessness begins the process of letting go of our old habits in order to build different and healthy ones. If you know this is true for you then consider joining us for our next FREEDOM FROM FEAR weekend. We will meet 2 weeks from tomorrow at the YMCA Camp, St. Croix near Hudson, WI. We begin Friday night Sept 25 at 7 and end Sunday morning Sept 27 at 10:30. Contact us at joso@groundupgrace.com for more information.

Old Testament Verse

One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city.
Proverbs 16:32

New Testament Verse

Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 14:12

Prayer

Lord, I often get angry and lose my temper when stressed. Yet even when you were suffering on the cross, you obediently did your Father's will. You forgave those hurting you. Grant me the grace to cling to you when times are difficult. I want to be obedient to your ways in all circumstances. Amen.
