God hears our desolate cries (Psalm 118:8; 2 Tim 4:16-17)
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to put confidence in mortals.

At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength.

Lord of heaven and earth, your steadfast love endures forever. Every day you stand by me and give me strength; however, I am guilty of forgetting that your grace is sufficient. Forgive me, Lord, and set me today on the straight path that leads me back to you. Amen.
