I will punish the people who rest complacently on their dregs, those who say in their hearts, "The Lord will not do good, nor will he do harm."
Zephaniah 1:12
You say, "I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing." You do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich; and white robes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Revelation 3:17-18
Forgive me for all the times I put my trust in myself. Save me, Lord, from a lukewarm faith! I cry to you from my wretchedness. Thank you for looking upon me with merciful grace. Clothe me anew in the clean garments of baptism. Let me see myself for what I truly am—a sinner redeemed by your love. Amen.
