(Mission Cast) Making And Keeping Promises (1 Kings 8:24; 1 Thessalonians 5:24) (Faith)

Mim is traveling in the Midwest for China Service Ventures. Today Jeff explores the idea of making and keeping promises. We all make promises and, unfortunately, we make some that we cannot keep or have not intention of keeping. Sometimes we truly want to keep our promises but fail because of circumstances or our own inability to do what we said we would do. A broken promise, depending upon its quality and nature, can be devastating to the relationship. We all make promises that we cannot keep; however, God makes promises is both faithful and powerful to fulfill this promises. Think of his great promises of eternal life to all who believe in his Son, Jesus Christ! When we break promises, we can confess our sin and be forgiven. We we suffer broken promises, we can forgive and renew the relationship all by God’s grace. We take comfort in knowing that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ. Maybe we can extend the same grace to each other?

1 Kings 8:24 NIV

New Testament Verse

The one who calls you is faithful.

Prayer

I praise you, Jesus, because your words are faithful and true. Every promise you make and any intention you state is certain. Keep me from the fickle words of men. Forgive my impatience with the timing of your promises. By your Spirit, grant me endurance and faith. Make me a real and living testimony of your faithfulness for everyone. Amen.
