(Sharecast) Suffering With Jesus (Isaiah 53:3; Luke 18:32 33)

Sunsets create a wonderful evening glow but they may also create sadness. Sunset sadness is stimulated in people because we need light to live. The end of the day can cause us to feel depressed as our bodies long for the light.that is slipping away over the horizon. By contrast in John 1, Jesus is the Light who shines in our darkness and no darkness can snuff out His Light. As followers of Jesus, we will have times of darkness but the promise for us in Psalm 23 is that when “we walk through the valley of the shadow of death you are with me.” When we are in any kind of darkness, Jesus is there. “I am with you always,” he says, especially in your suffering that seems dark to you. In today’s podcast we raise the importance of suffering with Jesus as the normal Way of being a Christian. After you have heard today’s message, think of someone you know who is in the dark. Pray for them. Call them. Assure them that they are forgiven. Proclaim the presence of our Risen Christ walking with them in the midst of their suffering. He is the RISEN SON of God!

Luke 18:32-33

Prayer

Tender Lord, no one knows more than you what it's like to be rejected and despised. I find it deeply comforting that you understand hardship and suffering. I can trust you with my sorrows and wounds! Continue to heal me and restore me that I might point others to you and your sweet offers of kindness and gentleness. Amen.
