Woe to us! God has zero-tolerance for sin, No one can hide. Everyone on earth is warned. But Micah also has a message from God that has hope. Forgiveness and restoration will come to any who turn from evil. Micah includes this hope that God will relent on the promised judgment. But repentance is something God has to do in us. His creative work is our new heart. “He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast out all our sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:19). We can be comforted by those words from our God who will help us. Micah prophesies what the benefit of forgiveness creates when we turn from evil and “walk humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8). Let’s ask God today “to create in us a clean heart” (Psalm 51:10) over can walk humbly with Him.
Hear, you peoples, all of you; listen, O earth, and all that is in it, and let the Lord GOD be a witness against you.
Micah 1:2
Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow.
Galatians 6:7
Sovereign God, you warn me to listen and follow your guidance, but my sinful self thinks I know better. Forgive me when my actions and thoughts do not follow your expectations. Renew my focus to fix my eyes on you and to sow to the Spirit. Help attune me to hear the needs of others in my community. Amen.
