Suffering (Job 1:21; Romans 5:3-4)
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
Job 1:21
We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Romans 5:3-4 NIV
Generous Lord, I rejoice when you give and desire more. I mourn when you take away and want less. Lead me to be hopeful, knowing I am justified by faith in you. Today as we honor our veterans' perseverance and sacrifices for freedom, we remember the ultimate sacrifice that has given us eternal life in the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Amen.
