Mim and I (Jeff) welcome our Chinese friend “Deborah” to the mission cast. At the end of December, she will return to her home village in China. She holds a Master’s Degree in Theology. She most certainly faces hardships and persecution, but is willing to return despite warnings from her friends and relatives so that she might serve her village with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray for Deborah. This podcast contains a little bit of her story and her quiet determination to honor her Lord as he gives us her comfortable life in the United States to be faithful and obedient to God’s call. Mim and I are truly humbled and inspired by her faith. We now consider ourselves what it means to be about our Father’s business in our present location. We think you will be blessed by her reflections on these texts. (Note) The drawing is AI-produced. The gate is definitely confucian style. In many Chinese churches, the cross is red, a blend of Christian and cultural symbolism. Red, in Chinese culture, signifies joy and good fortune. The cross represents forgiveness and new life. The two combined produce a meaning of joy, good fortune and new life found only in Jesus Christ our Lord.
A day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
Psalm 84:10
Jesus said to his parents, "Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
Luke 2:49
Hospitable Father, thank you for letting me experience your presence. One minute with you can mean a lifetime in your kingdom. I am sorry I don't make time for you. Thank you for not giving up on me. When I move away, you keep searching for me to restore my home in you. And I will dwell there forever. Amen.
