Our purpose is to help you hear the grace of Jesus in these verses so that your life may find its grounding in Christ alone. It is this grounding in grace that makes forgivin’ livin’ your way of freedom.

00(Irishcast) Our God Forever (Psalm 48:14; John 14:6)
This prayer has helped us to humble ourselves before our Lord and seek the guidance only God can give. As we consider the end of this year and the beginning of the next, we remember all the ways our Lord has been the way, the truth and the life for us guiding us in both good and bad times. God’s faithfulness is from everlasting to everlasting. We walk with Jesus into our future with good courage, with His courage.

The wooden sculpture depicts the strong arms of Joseph surrounding Mary and Jesus in an embrace of love. God so loved the world that He gave Joseph to be a loving support to Mary and Jesus. Even though he knew this was not his son, he endured whatever it required to stand with his wife in a gracious embrace. Who has stood with you like this? Where is God asking you to embrace someone with this kind of sacrificial love? Joseph’s obedient love changed the world. Yours will also.

00(Sundaycast) Following Jesus Out Of The Nest (Ps 84:3; Matt 8:20)
Jesus is our resting place. He is our safe place. In His space of grace, we have learned to let our Lord feed us by praying the T.R.I.P. questions over the texts for each day. We are going to use the T.R.I.P. on our SUNDAYCAST so that you can let Jesus feed you as you rest in Him. Try writing a T.R.I.P. prayer with us today. Taste the satisfaction that our Lord has for you. Here are Sonja’s prayers from today’s verses. THANKS “I thank you Jesus that you know what it’s like to have no place to call home. You left your true home in heaven to identify with me and my homelessness on earth. I praise you Lord for giving me my true home in you. You offer yourself as my place of rest and peace. You make me secure wherever you are.” REGRET “Forgive me for seeking other nests instead of the one you know I need.” INTERCESSION “Redirect me to find my home in you alone and help me to be willing to follow you no matter the cost.” PURPOSE “Today I will reach out to someone who is wandering and needs to experience your nest of safety.” Now you can practice writing out your T.R.I.P. prayers. 00(Mission Cast) Jesus Gives More To You So You Can Too (Proverbs 19:17; Luke 6:38)
Jeff reflects on the application of “lending to the poor” and “giving with good measure” with illustrations from a recent experience at a local eatery and a homeless person. (Picture of Fish Taco from “On the Alley” in Santa Barbara, CA) It was these two texts that motivated him to engage with a homeless person and share a meal with him, when he otherwise would have chosen not to engage. He also reflects on the example of his mother teaching him how to measure a “full cup” of brown sugar and the local butcher who always measured a full pound of ground beef with a few ounces more.

00Knowing God’s Hope (Psalm 98:3; Titus 2:13)
All humans have an appetite for hope. We are longing for anything that could fill us with hope. For the past 10 days, the verses in the “Daily Texts” have connected us with this yearning for hope. Our problem is how do we get the satisfying hope that our souls long for. The “way” we follow is filled with false hopes and these do lead to unfulfilled endings. What can we learn from the way of Jesus? After 40 days in the wilderness, He was hungry and He was longing for food. He was tempted to find hope by magically turning the stones in front of Him into a nice, warm loaf of bread. But Jesus resisted. He proclaimed to the devil that was tempting Him, “It is written, ‘man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4). Jesus trusted every word that came from the mouth of God. Those words are the bread of life that fed His soul. So how are you doing in your search for hope? Do you need help? Remember: ask, seek, knock. God created this hunger. God will help you satisfy it.

00( Theta) Forever Family (Ezekiel 34:30 & Luke 2:11)
Nathan and Joy Hoff share reflections with their birth family that recall 20 years of midnight Christmas worship at Trinity. Each of their kids and one kid-in-law then add one response to one of their Christmas services. Nathan gets an extra because he comments on the children gathering around the lighting of the Advent Candles. Here he captures the essence of the “forever family” that the Holy Spirit creates as we are born into a new relationship with Him as our brother and God as our Father. One member of that forever family once had a midnight encounter with Jesus. His name is Nicodemus. One day we will get to hear his story. 00(Florida Cast) Merry Christmas Beloved Children Of The Father (Exodus 6:7; 1 John 3:1)
The manger and the cross bring peace on earth. We are God’s angels who have the privilege of announcing the love that our God has for the whole world. For God so loved the world that He gave, Jesus, and Jesus was willing to become a human being sharing all things human with us. Jesus is God but in a human body. And with this body Jesus takes all our rebellion…our control issues…our hostility…our resentments…into Himself and swallows them up in His death on the cross. The promise of the angels comes to pass in the death and resurrection of the baby born in the manger. What wondrous love is this? We will never know this love in all its fullness until that day when Jesus comes again to take us to our final home. Then the partial love we know today will overwhelm us for eternity. Until then we’ve got a great message to announce to all! And who is the lucky person going to be that gets to hear us?

00(Irishcast) Jesus God’s Greatest Gift (Deut 16:17; Matt 2:11)
Can you guess which culture painted the birth of Jesus in these different works of art? They are from the Crow Nation in Montana, Uganda, Florida, India, Thailand, the Aborigines of Australia, and Korea. Why do these cultures want to make Jesus look like them? Once we believe, like the shepherds, that Jesus is born “for you” we want to bring this personal news of our Savior into the lives of all those around us. These paintings reveal the faith that God looks like us. People everywhere believe this. The angels proclaimed, “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people .” (Luke 2:10). All people get to translate Christ and Christmas into their culture. Painting Jesus in our skin tones is a wonderful way to get the personal connection of Christmas into the world where we live.
