What is God saying to us in these texts this week? How well do we understand the cross as God‘s way in the world? Jesus is the first victim in every battle, in every cancer ward, in every plague, in every assault, in every abuse. “For God so loved the world” that he became judged by the world and we found him guilty. So what does His way mean for us to take up our cross daily? What way is Jesus leading you today to die with Him? His ways are not yours. But what promise does he make to you as you walk His way. “I am the resurrection and the life…”
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
Isaiah 55:8
Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a town and spend a year there, doing business and making money." Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wishes, we will live and do this or that."
James 4:13, 15
Righteous and holy God, thank you for your goodness and grace. I confess that often I make my own decisions and plans. Please forgive me. I am grateful that your Spirit and your Word give me guidance. Teach me your ways. Make your thoughts my thoughts. In all things, may not my will, but yours be done. Amen.
