(Mission Cast) We Submit, We Are Sent, We Serve (Isaiah 29:16; Eph 2:10) (Discipleship)

Imagine the absurdity of the clay asserting that it made itself or attempts to make others out of itself while denying the existence of the Potter, the one who made it.  Jeff and Mim discuss the upside down nature of the gospel.  Jesus invites his followers to take up the cross, deny themselves, and lose their lives for the sake of the gospel — and they will find life!   We like God in a box, controlled by our own expectations and conforming to our own plans.  But, what happens when God calls a person?  God calls that person to die to self.  As we submit to the lordship of Christ, we find life.  And, as we are sent as his ambassadors into the world, we are led sometimes to the strangest people, places, and circumstances — divine appointments.  Let’’s trust God, the Potter, to fashion and mold our lives as His workmanship.

Old Testament Verse

You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay? Shall the thing made say of its maker, "He did not make me," or the thing formed say of the one who formed it, "He has no understanding?"
Isaiah 29:16

New Testament Verse

For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we may walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10

Prayer

"Jesus knows me, this I love." Even turned upside down, this favorite song reveals the importance of being known by you, Lord. Forgive me for trying to turn my life my own way. Flip me your side up to be what you created me for. Lead me to walk in today's good works that you have prepared for me. Amen.
