(Big Skycast) Jesus’ Yes Is Our Yes (Proverbs 10:19; Matt 5:37)

LENT JOURNALING QUESTIONS: This LENT we are providing a daily (Monday-Saturday) journaling opportunity. You are welcome to print this page or write the questions into your journal. Please let us know what you think of this idea of having journaling as a way to deepen your “Daily Texts” practice. Perhaps you know someone with whom you can share your responses. “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech.” Proverbs 10:19 Jesus said, “Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.” Matthew 5:37 JOURNALING DAY 3 Recall a time when you have said something that you regretted. What happened as a result? How does the Spirit of Truth keep you from speaking words too quickly? What does the Spirit need to do to help you admit when you are wrong? The T.R.I.P. practice gives you the opportunity to consider one thing you could act on after reflecting on the texts for the day. The “P” letter stands for “plan of action” or “purpose” that the Spirit may want you to do this day. Ask the Spirit what is the one thing you can do today about how you use words?

Old Testament Verse

When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech.
Proverbs 10:19

New Testament Verse

Jesus said, "Let your word be 'Yes, Yes' or 'No, No'; anything more than this comes from the evil one."
Matthew 5:37

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for guiding me. Too often I try to explain myself when I only need to say yes to your voice in my life. Today help me listen. When needed, let me speak a word that welcomes another forgiven sinner. Help me say yes to you, and no to any evil that comes my way. Amen.
