Isaiah 53 and Romans 3-4-5 reveal the truth of Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. Today’s texts get to heart of the problem. We are traitors. We don’t want God to help us. In fact we bruise Jesus. But Jesus doesn’t give up on us. He knows we are dead. He knows we need Him to have life. So He comes to us over and over again to break through the hardness of our hearts so that we might have His life in us.
By his bruises we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Romans 4:25 NIV
Good and gracious Lord, you were broken and bruised for sinners like me. Forgive me when I think people owe me for loving and forgiving them. Burst the limits of my love, O Lord. I want your everlasting light to overcome any darkness that is created by guilt and shame. Let me bring forgivin' livin' wherever you lead me. Amen.
