Are you holding Jesus or is Jesus holding you? When I think of the story today of Saint Peter holding the arm of Christ, I have to go back to the Old Testament, which says that Jesus is holding his hand. I pasted the head of Beethoven onto the body that Jesus is holding in the water. His story is one that reveals what it means to be held by Jesus, not knowing the outcome of what it is that the Lord is accomplishing through you. This is what it means to be held by Jesus. Just know that whatever you may think or feel, Jesus is holding you. That’s what a Good Shepherd does. The shepherd holds the sheep. There are no sheep that have the ability to hold a Shepherd.
Our steps are made firm by the LORD when he delights in our way; though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the LORD holds us by the hand.
Psalm 37:23-24
Peter cried out, "Lord, save me!" Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Matthew 14:30-31
Your steadfast love and faithfulness surround me on every side, Lord. You use the members of your body, the church, to hold me. These believers continually bring the gifts of your patience, wisdom, and healing to me. Because of them I don't sink or fade away but am saved over and over again. Praise to you, O Lord! Amen.
