Until the day we die, we will have this battle inside ourselves. It is between the flesh and the sprit. The flesh is like Adam and Eve in the garden. It will never tell us to something that is evil. Remember what it says in Genesis 3: 6: the fruit was “good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise.” Those are all good things. But taking the fruit was against God’s will for them. Our flesh does the same every day. It will just tell us to do something that leads us away from letting the Holy Spirit fight for us. God knows that you can’t fight the flesh on your own strength. You will lose that battle. So God fights for you with the power of the Holy Spirit. As you have heard it said often, “just let go and let God” but this time let God fight for you.
Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.
Proverbs 11:19 NIV
If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh, but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
Galatians 6:8
Lord Jesus, you have declared me to be righteous. I trust your word for me, which has created my new life in the Spirit. Help me to know daily what it means to sow to the Spirit. Lead me away from sowing to my flesh. Let your labors of love be my greatest desire. Amen.
