( Theta) Pleasure (Psalm 34:1 & Ephesians 1:5 6) (Shepherd’s Voice)

GOD LOVES HAVING YOU IN HIS FAMILY. Here is how the New Living Translation offers the text in Eph 1:5-6. “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Great pleasure. That is what parents who adopt a child feel. Ask any one of them. They were delighted to make a home for a child. This is how God wants us to know His great love for you and for me. God adopted us. God chose us. We are precious to God. It is no accident that God chose you and wanted you to share His love. The word for this love in the Old Testament is called “hesed.” In the New Testament it is called “grace.” Trust God’s word today that declares to you that God is pleased with you and it gives Him great pleasure to call you His child.

Old Testament Verse

I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:1

New Testament Verse

He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace.
Ephesians 1:5-6

Prayer

Thank you, God, for adopting me as your precious child. Forgive me for falling into the recurring trap of thinking I need to perform well for you to love me. Grant me your special gift of self-forgetfulness that comes when Christ alone is my life. May I serve others in love as your loving child. Amen.
