(Mission Cast) Keeping In Step With The Spirit (Psalm 119:133; 1 John 2:6) (Discipleship)

Today Jeff and Mim discuss what it means to live as a redeemed person in Christ and how we do this. They draw upon Psalm 119:133, 1 John 2:9 and John 10:9.   God’s word keeps our steps steady (firmly planted in His ways) and guides us in who we are to imitate.  Jesus Christ is the source of life from which all living begins and has it being.   John 15 tells us that this kind of life is not possible unless we are grated into the vine (Christ).  Because we abide in him, and he is us, we are able to bear the fruit of His kingdom. The Apostle Paul, in Galatians 5, writes about “walking by the Spirit” and “being led by the Spirit” so that we will bear much fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control).    Let’s keep in step with the Spirit.    What if we all prayed Psalm 119:133 daily for the next 30 days and trusted the Spirit to guide and lead us?  Where and to whom would we be led and what would we experience? Let’s pray and see! 30 DAY PRAYER PLAN Psalm 119:133 “Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.”

Old Testament Verse

Keep my steps steady according to your promise, and never let iniquity have dominion over me.
Psalm 119:133

New Testament Verse

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
1 John 2:6 NIV

Prayer

Jesus, you invite me to live in you. You lived perfectly according to the law, but I cannot. I can only claim your promises. When I stray from your path, thank you for not letting sin overwhelm me. You steady me with your love and forgiveness. Today let me follow you wholeheartedly and invite someone along. Amen.
