In Austria, the clouds hid the glory of these mountain peaks from our eyes. We knew they were there, but we could never see them expect in pictures others had taken. In a similar manner, we have a God who hides Himself. Today’s texts reveal this. We might know He is there behind some kind of cloud but what is God really like? And who is it that gives us the true picture of the hidden God? Read on to find out. (Luke 10:21-22) In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob.
Isaiah 8:17
They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.
Romans 9:4
Patient Lord, thank you for the times you wait for me to come with my troubles, sorrows, and joys. You wait with open arms of compassion. You welcome me in and hold me close. I am adopted into your family. I am yours. You give good gifts, and with gratitude, I give you all the glory. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
