Our Father Is Bringing Us Home (Jer 31:8; Luke 14:21)

Our Father qualifies us to be included in His banquet, in His presence, in His family. But we feel disqualified by circumstances in our life that may have separated us from others. These circumstances become a barrier or a gap between us and God. The photo is taken of a tram or cable car that carries people up a mountain in Brazil. But to get onto this cable car you have to cross a small gap. This gap may seem like nothing to you but there are other gaps in your life that you are unable to cross in your own strength. You feel disqualified. You can only cross these gaps by walking on your Lord. But know this, that your Heavenly Father has sent Jesus for just this reason to bring you lame, crippled, poor, disabled ones to Himself. That’s how badly He wants you at His banquet.

Old Testament Verse

I am going gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those with child and those in labor together; a great company, they shall return here.
Jeremiah 31:8

New Testament Verse

The owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, "Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame."
Luke 14:21

Prayer

Jesus, I am afraid I too often ignore your invitation to live. I am filled with the fear of missing out and thereby live in limbo. Release me from my busyness and distractions. I want to dine with you. Help me extend your RSVPs to the farthest reaches. Your table has no limits! Amen.
