Glory be to God the creator of the heavens and the earth. That glory finds its fullest expression when God creates us in His image as the hands from the Sistene Ceiling painting reveal. But this glory given in Genesis 1 and 2 is lost in Genesis 3. But glory gets restored through Jesus. St John expresses this restoration in John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” And we get to receive this grace upon grace. When Jesus fills you with grace and truth, God’s creative light shines through you to bring God’s glory to the world.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah 6:3
The angel said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water."
Revelation 14:7
Lord of hosts, you are the maker of heaven and earth. I worship you. You are like no other. You take my breath away. The whole earth is filled with your glory and living, active presence. So often I forget how great a God you are. Increase my expectation of what you can do for me, in me and through me. Amen.
