(Irishcast) Following Jesus (Gen 46 V3,4 Luke 18v28 30)

The great hymn “How Firm A Foundation” expresses this promise that God makes to Jacob. “Fear not, I am with you; O be not dismayed, for I am your God and will still give you aid; I’ll strengthen you, help you and cause you to stand upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.” It is our prayer that the daily podcasts will give you this assurance that your Heavenly Father is “with you,” Emmanuel. When you know that God is with you you can reach out your hand to join another person to God. Remember your God will help you…He is with you.

Old Testament Verse

God said to Jacob, "I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again."

Prayer

God of Jacob, I am grateful for your promise that you are always with me. When you call me to follow, I often feel like I would be leaving too much behind. It is hard to see ahead to your kingdom. Reassure me that you accompany me and will even bring me to your eternal home. Amen.
