The decision to build the Mount Carmel Chapel came as an act of faith on the part of the Board since not all the funds needed had been raised. But the promise from Zechariah in today’s text was the Old Testament reading for the day that the Board was meeting at Mount Carmel to consider the challenge ahead of us if we pushed ahead with the decision to build. The front of the chapel is pictured above. It was completed in 2008 and has been fully used in the summer programs during family weeks. The chapel also has become more fully used in the winter with the Awaken Project having about 6 students for the school year. There are an additional 40 kids from 2nd to 7th grade using the lower level 5 days a week. And there are others who are here for winter weekends and other ministry opportunities. Its debt was completely paid off a few years ago. Thanks be to God that the Board took the step of faith to build the chapel when they did.
Those who are far off shall come and help to build the temple of the Lord.
Zechariah 6:15
All nations will come and worship before you, for your judgments have been revealed.
Revelation 15:4
Lord of all nations, I praise your holy name. You also reign in the hearts of those who seem so far off to me, and I confess that I reduce you to fit prejudices I hold against my neighbors. Reveal your merciful judgments. Let me come to worship before you, along with the others that you love. Amen.
