Trusting in Jesus in the difficulties of our lives is when it is the most important for us. Cecil Alexander wrote this great hymn based on the Apostles Creed about following our Lord. “Jesus calls us; o’er the tumult of our life’s wild, restless sea, day by day his voice is sounding, saying, “Christian, follow me.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Jesus said to Peter, "Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go."
John 21:18
Holy Spirit, thank you that I am not traveling solo on this lifelong path of twists and turns. I am sorry when I rely on my own dead reckoning. You are always there, clearing my road and turning my heart. Help me to stretch out my hands before you in humble surrender. Become my way and my truth today. Amen.
