Welcome to the Mission Cast! (Mim is away in Southern California conducting a camp for Chinese Immigrant Children with a local Chinese church. We will report more on the camp next week.). I (Jeff) am solo today and reflect upon the idea of being fully known and fully loved. As a youth I was afraid of God as being hash and condemning. I was fearful of God knowing everything about me. Then, I met Jesus and knew him to be a God of mercy and compassion, grace and forgiveness. His love toward me was steadfast and everlasting. My sin causes sorrow to God and harm to others and myself, but it is not enough to separate me from God — only to hide God’s face from me, because I choose to hide from him. When we step into the light of confession and forgiveness, we experience God’s redeeming love. Our sin is nailed to the cross. The consequence of our sin is death and the tomb. But all these things were left behind when Jesus rose from the dead. My sin is forgiven and removed from God’s presence. As I am with Jesus there is only life. He has called me out of darkness and into his glorious light of love.
Look, O Lord, at how distressed I am; my heart is wrung within me because I have been very rebellious.
Lamentations 1:20
The woman said, "Come and see a man who told me everything I have ever done! He cannot be the Messiah, can he?"
John 4:29
Compassionate Father, I am thankful for your unwavering kindness that knows the depths of my soul. I repent of moments when I strayed from your path like a lost lamb in the wilderness. Help me boldly to proclaim your truth. May my life be a testament to your forgiveness and grace, embracing the depths of your love. Amen.
