How does your spirit or your soul long for God? And how do you experience satisfaction for this longing? That is the theme in today’s texts. One of the Psalms that expresses this same longing is 42. It begins with the image of a deer longing for the fresh water of a river. “As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God.” Are you aware of how deeply you long for God? A thirsty animal knows its need to be refreshed. How about you? What is the source of your refreshment in God? As you listen today to the podcast, consider how your soul and your spirit are satisfied with the presence of the living God. Today, share how you receive this nourishment with someone you know.
Lord my soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you.
Isaiah 26:9 NIV
In the morning, while it was still very dark, Jesus got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.
Mark 1:35
Creator and Sustainer, I am thankful for the dawn's embrace, a reminder of your mercies renewed each morning. Forgive my moments of distraction when worldly cares eclipse communion with you like fog veiling the sunrise. Guide me to seek your presence diligently like a traveler tracing the path of the rising sun. May my soul awaken to your light. Amen.
