How many promises has God made to us in the Bible? The rainbow was the sign of one of God’s first promises. (Genesis 9:11-13) “I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” The rainbow over Mount Carmel’s lodge reminds us of the Genesis promise. In today’s texts we have two more promises God makes to us. What counts for you is not how many promises God makes in the Bible but which of God’s promises are you looking to for hope. What promise is your rainbow from God today?
Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping.
Psalm 39:12 NIV
A woman, who was a sinner, stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to bathe his feet with her tears and to dry them with her hair, kissing his feet and anointing them with the ointment. But Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Luke 7:37-38, 50
Compassionate Christ, even though eyes blurred with tears, I know that you actively listen to my cry for help. Thank you for your faithfulness and answering my prayers. Like the woman weeping at your feet, I am not worthy of your grace. I long to be saved and sent in peace. I will trust in your love. Amen.
