Letting God Correct You (Haggai 1:9; Luke 11:42) (Repentance)

David Blackstad was ordained on Saturday at Mount Carmel. He is now a Lutheran pastor in the LCMC. He is standing next to Tim Peterson who has been the Executive Director of Mount Carmel Ministries since 2020. Wearing the red stole is used in Lutheran churches for ordination. It is used for those special celebrations of the Holy Spirit. Other days when red stoles are worn by pastors include Pentecost Sunday, confirmation Sunday, and Reformation Sunday. David also was installed as the new Executive Director of Mount Carmel Ministries. With the big events of last weekend, we were able to give the staff a little break from their weekly podcast and CARMELCAST will return next week.

Old Testament Verse

You have looked for much, but it came to little, and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because my house lies in ruins, while all of you hurry off to your own houses.
Haggai 1:9

New Testament Verse

But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and herbs of all kinds and neglect justice and the love of God; it is these you ought to have practiced, without neglecting the others.
Luke 11:42

Prayer

Holy God, I confess that I imitate the desires of others and get caught up in endless vanities. Help me to see the world from your perspective and to live in it with your wisdom and love. May my neighbors in life be thankful they knew me as they offer you the praise and glory. Amen.
