Last Words Lasting Words (Joshua 24:23; Acts 20:20 21) (Repentence)

“You will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth…” We discover how Joshua and Paul share the importance of being witnesses to the full truth of God’s message to us. At the heart of both of their messages is that each of us is tempted to turn our private longings into God’s will for our lives. For the past three days, the “Daily Texts” have called us to repent. No different from Jesus in the Garden, “not my will but thine be done.” We are headed to North Dakota this weekend to bring the truth of repenting from our resenting. We all believe that we have a right to be angry when we have been hurt. But God has a different message for each of us. “Vengeance is mine…says the Lord” (Romans 12:19). Our job is to practice the ABC’s of forgiveness. (Absolve, Bless, Constantly…Luke 6:37; Luke 6:28; Matthew 18:22). (It’s also found on page 189 in your “Daily Texts.”) Pray for us as well as we bring ‘Forgivin’ Livin’ to these new friends in North Dakota.

Prayer

Loving Father, thank you for sending your living word into our world and into my heart. I know I am often tempted to rely on my own words and insights. They are like mental idols of wood or stone. Lead me deeper into faith and peace that is Jesus. May my words testify to your light and life. Amen.
