Mount Carmel hosted 34 guests who were here to deepen their understanding of how God uses imperfect marriages to bless an imperfect world. We reclaimed the powerful biblical heritage of Ruth and Boaz, a very imperfect couple, whose great, great, great (etc) grandchild was Jesus, the perfect son of God. Every believer is assured that Christ’s perfect love casts out all fears that we’re not perfect enough for God to work through us. Each of us needs to be assured that our Bridegroom loves us, his bride, with a perfect, complete and eternal love.
Ruth said, "Do not press me to leave you, or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God."
Ruth 1:16
Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David. Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, who bore Jesus, who is called the Messiah.
Matthew 1:5-6, 16
God of the generations, your faithfulness endures from age to age. Thank you for the people who walk with me and keep me faithful to you. Forgive me for the times I want to turn back. When I doubt my next step, teach me to look to Jesus. Help me pass on the faith to those who follow me. Amen.
