Knowing that our Lord Jesus suffered in parched places assures us that He can keep His promise to meet us when we suffer in our parched times. One of our “Daily Texts” readers recently reported to Jill that these words each day are the only words her husband can read. In 1989, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Since then he can only manage these words. For 20 minutes each day, these texts hold him together. That is all he can handle but it is all he needs. Parched places will come to us all. When they do, our Lord comes to us with His living water, and His daily bread. As you meditate on God’s bread for you today, know that this God is the one who knows what you need to receive from His hand which satisfies every living thing,
The LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your needs in parched places.
Isaiah 58:11
Give us today our daily bread.
Matthew 6:11
Bread of life, thank you for being my source of life in parched seasons and places. Today I lack a sense of purpose that is both meaningful and congruent with your kingdom. Fill me again with your life and vision that I might rejoice in you and bring joy to others. Amen.
