To the wicked God says: "What right have you to recite my statutes, or take my covenant on your lips? For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you."

But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.

Master, thank you for autumn. It reminds me of the beauty in dying to self yet rising in obedience to you. Help me to love your discipline, crave your perfect law, and persevere on the path you lay before me. Today, through love in action, may I bring blessing to your name. Amen.
