Heaven is a subject we don’t talk about too often since the evidence for it is hidden in the Bible and occasionally from stories of people who had the adventure of returning from there. But one place we can find some evidence for the experience of heaven is in Revelation. In this book, John, the author, has a vision of the heavenly reality when he is on the Island of Patmos (we will be leading a Turkey-Greece tour there next October and we will see his dwelling where this vision took place). What John records is often filled with images that are hard to understand. But one thing clear is that in heaven we will see the Father, the Son and the Spirit. And when we are in their presence we are going to be beside ourselves. But actually we will be our true selves finally free from the old selves in us who always like to be in control. Our freedom will express itself in praise. That is one thing that will be true in heaven. We will be free to praise our God.
May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you.
Psalm 40:16
Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!
Luke 19:38
Blessed Lord, I seek the heavenly peace and glory given wherever you arrive. I rejoice and gladly worship you. I regret when my attitude is not one of gratitude but of grumbling, complaining, or stumbling along. Fill me with your joy so I overflow with shouts of praise for you and for your blessings in my life. Amen.
