(Mission Cast) Jesus Dwells With Us Now And In The New Jerusalem (Jer 33:9; Matt 21:9)

In this episode, Jeff and Mim discuss the Prophet Jeremiah’s oracle of hope that, one day, the Messiah would come to Jerusalem and that the people would rejoice with gladness.   In the New Testament, many images are used to describe the new people of God, created in Christ Jesus.  One of those images in Revelation 21 is the bride of Christ adorned like the city of Jerusalem in all of its splendor.  After the Cultural Revolution in China, Christian missionaries were expelled from the mainland.  Many of them went to Hong Kong and started works there that otherwise would not have started.  It is a good reminder that God is always at work in every circumstance to accomplish his purposes.

Old Testament Verse

And this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise, and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them.
Jeremiah 33:9

New Testament Verse

The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"
Matthew 21:9

Prayer

Son of David, blessed are you who come in the name of the Lord! Thank you for filling my heart with praise. Forgive me when I choose to follow my own crooked path and not the path you have laid out for me, the path of true joy. Today let me think of nothing except you. Amen.
