(Floridacast) Christmas Eve God’s Birth Exposes How Helpless We Are (Psalm 89:14; John 1:14) (Grace)

When the gift that is given attacks our self-righteous foundation, we definitely don’t want anything to do with it. “Just leave it there under the tree and don’t bother my world view with your grace and peace.” That is the one reason people despise Christmas. God gives Himself freely for our sakes in a way we never could and really don’t want to. But God keeps giving over and over again so we will finally quit fighting and let the good news of living under grace and reality control our lives. We give up our need to be right. Know people like this person in the cartoon? Yep, “it’s a me it’s a me it’s a me old Lord, standing in the need of prayer.” Pray. Pray for yourself to receive God’s kindness. Let go of your need to be right and let the righteousness of God fill you with all the fullness of God. And then you can begin praying for others to receive what you have finally received. God’s gift of life in Jesus that frees you from yourself. Merry Christmas! (DOWNLOAD THE PRAYER JOURNAL AGAIN TODAY TO HEAR WHY GOD DIDN’T MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR MARY AND JOSEPH).

Living Word, your kingdom is built on righteousness, justice, faithfulness, and steadfast love. Thank you for becoming flesh and living among us. You lived and spoke truth and grace.
