Our purpose is to help you hear the grace of Jesus in these verses so that your life may find its grounding in Christ alone. It is this grounding in grace that makes forgivin’ livin’ your way of freedom.

00(Irishcast) The Lord Comes To Dwell In You (Zech 2:10; Matthew 21:10) 2
Tuesday before Lent has different meanings all over the Christian church. Each of these terms above represents a way of practicing this day in the Christian tradition of that community. “Carnival” is the general name given for the few days before Lent when Christians have huge parties, parades and celebrations. Tuesday night at midnight, carnival ends, and there is silence all over these communities. The word “Carnival” shows us something when you break the word into its two parts. “Carne” means meat or flesh. “Val” is the shortened form for “valeo” which means farewell. So when people are going to their parties during Carnival, and for today, Tuesday, they are saying “farewell to the flesh.” How about this year for Lent instead of thinking about Lent as something we need to give up, why not ask God for something you can take on. Pray that our Lord would give you a project, a person, a special need, or whatever that God would have you do. Instead of saying farewell, let’s say hello! Instead of giving up we will be taking something on. We will be a Lenten blessing.

00(Big Skycast) Asking For God’s Correction (Psalm 139:23 24; Matt 7:14)
The image of a guardian angel watching over a child as she walks along a narrow path in the woods is one of the more comforting pictures of being watched over by our Lord. One of the important ways for us to understand the work of the Holy Spirit is the one who calls out to us while we are walking alone in our times of difficulty. The Greek word for Holy Spirit is “Paraclete” which is often translated comforter. But the term means one who walks along beside you (para) and calls out to you (kaleo). How do you hear the Holy Spirit calling out to you? Does the Spirit sometimes have to use words that correct you so that you can get back on the narrow path? When have you been the voice of the Holy Spirit to bring support to a person who needs to hear the word of God’s promise?

00(Sundaycast) Do You Know How Blind You Are (Isaiah 63:9; Matt 20:30)
How does Christ break through our darkness that makes it possible for us to see? We are in the Montana mountains with John and Grace as we share this podcast. There are no northern lights here but we are bringing you this message that the light of Christ may break into any darkness you may be in. This is the promise of the gospel message that is preached through Jesus Christ. Today in worship, as you hear the proclamation of our Lord breaking through your darkness, may your eyes be able to see the glory of all that our God is for you. Each of us needs to be able to proclaim, “Once I was blind, but now I see.”

00(Mission Cast) Remember, I Am God, There Is No Other(Isaiah 46:9; Rev 1:8)
Jeff and Mim discuss the idea of remembering from the angle of forgetting. We forget when we fail to recall, think about, or longer heed something. We forget the Lord when we no longer seek his counsel in his word, no longer remember his past love or mercy, and no longer seek to please him or heed to his commands. We also forget that nothing in this world truly satisfies — only in Jesus Christ is true salvation and abundant life. Mim remembers her conversation with our grand-daughter, who asked, Is God a real person? What did John see in his vision? Jesus is the word of God incarnate in the flesh and has made God known to us. Jeff recalls 1 John 2:16 "All that is in the world — the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life — is not from the Father but is from the world.” If we are to love God, we need to love set our minds upon Christ. Missions is also helping people to remember Christ. Maybe they were raised in a Christian home but have wandered away. As believers, we help people remember the true source of life — Jesus. .

00Bearing The Life And Death Of Christ (Psalm 66:12; 2 Corinthians 4:9 10)
Jesus was not immune to all the pain and suffering that every human being has to endure. And we know that the outcome of His death was that He was raised up from the grave. And yet when He calls us to follow Him, He says to us that we will have trouble in the world. And in today’s texts, we see this very difficult description of how things don’t work out the way we believe they should even though we’re following Him. We know of many stories, even some very recent ones, where believers in different parts of the world are being killed and even beheaded for their faith. To follow Jesus means you will carry in your body, both His life and His death. There is no way around it. If you take up your cross and follow Him, that’s just the way it’s going to be. We’re not a congregation of Marvel heroes but we can marvel that the heroic power of Jesus works through ordinary people like us, in life and in death.

00(Theta) Useful (1 Samuel 12:20 21 & Ephesians 5:17)
“PILGRIM’S PROGRESS” is the book written by John Bunyan about a man named Christian who is suffering from spiritual anguish. The story progresses with different guides whose purpose it is to lead Christian to the Celestial City. Along the way there are many distractions (four of these pictured above) which are useless to his goal but can appear as useful if the goal of the Celestial City is not worth pursuing. For all of us who trust the “Daily Texts” to be our spiritual guide in our pilgrim journey, we also do not need or want useless things to distract us. It is our prayer that as we read and pray through the daily words we hear from our Lord in these texts, that we may live out and fulfill those things that our Lord knows are useful for us. Keep praying through these texts. Our Lord will lead us to those useful things that make “thy Kingdom come” and “thy will be done.”

00Moving In The Spirit (Isaiah 40:13; John 3:8)
Today begins our ministry of setting people free from the power of their resentments. We are in Carrington today for our first TABLE TALK luncheon. Pray for us as we reach out to believers who need the power of the Spirit to get free from holding onto their pain. We use our Martin and Katie story to ignite the fire of the Spirit to help them forgive. Thank you for your prayers.

00(Irishcast) The Lord My Strength (Psalm 118:14; James 5 1:13)
Above is the Happy Exchange or Sweet Swap that Martin Luther teaches in the “Freedom of the Christian.” It is yours because Christ chooses you to be His bride. The image above is the first part of what Luther says in this paragraph of how Christ trades what is ours with what is His. This follows: “For, if Christ is a husband, he must needs take to himself that which is his wife's, and, at the same time, impart to his wife that which is his. For, in giving her his own body and himself, how can he but give her all that is his? And, in taking to himself the body of his wife, how can he but take to himself all that is hers?” So what does this mean to you? Jesus can say “I am your weakness, I am your insecurity, I am your lostness.” And we can say, BY FAITH, “You are MY STRENGTH, MY MIGHT, MY SALVATION.” So let FAITH step in and speak the words of faith out loud. Speak the words now!

00Caring For The Forgotten (Amos 6:6; Ephesians 5:18)
The drawing tells the story of St. Francis and a leper. One day he came across a leper when he was out riding his horse. Usually he was afraid of lepers. He avoided them. If he did meet one on his path, he would turn his head the other way. He grimaced. He would make a face and pinch his nose to avoid the bad smell. But this was not an ordinary day. He got off his horse, gave the leper a silver coin, and kissed his hand. Then he resumed his journey. A few days later, with a pocket full of money, he went to visit a place full of lepers. He called them all together and gave them alms, kissing the hand of each of them. He had overcome his fears. From that time on, he was never afraid of lepers. Where is God asking you to go today to overcome your fears? Do you need some coins?
