God our Father promises to take our hand in all the rough places of our life. We all expect a “god” to save us from our troubles but we have the GOD who walks with us in our troubles. In today’s texts we see the promises of our God who knows we will weep and knows we need His hand to lead and to guide us in the path that leads us back into His care and keeping. So many of our hymns express this promise from our Father. Look up those hymns that have helped and encouraged you in your life of walking with your Lord.
With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back; I will let them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path where they shall not stumble, for I have become a father to Israel.
Jeremiah 31:9
In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
Hebrews 5:7
God, gracious Father, you sent Jesus to walk on earthly paths, fully human. He is my companion, leading me and listening. Forgive me for asking shyly what I hope. You are not put off by cries and tears. You comfort me and pardon my failures. Your saving presence and fatherly love make us all family-the whole human race. Amen.
