“No one has ever seen God. The only son who is in the image of the Father, he has given us a picture of what God is like.” This is a paraphrase of John 1 verse 18. We find this verse at the beginning of John’s gospel but it is the purpose of John’s gospel to reveal the intimate connection between Jesus and our Father in Heaven. As you read John’s gospel, look for the ways that Jesus reveals His connection with His Father and now this connection reveals who God really is.
The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Numbers 6:26
For it is the God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6
God of light, thank you for shining into my heart. I tend to strain my eyes into the darkness when Jesus' face has all the light I need. Even more, that light is all love. Lord, bring your peace today to someone who walks in darkness. Let me reflect Jesus, the light of my life. Amen.
